Top 7 things going on this week in the Peoria area

With September rolling in we have a lot of fun things going on around the area.

An Evening of Jazz, with a side of Bacon and Eggs! One of the more eclectic combinations, but it sounds like fun. This will be gong on down at the riverfront this Sat 9/13! There will be live jazz performers, creative bacon dishes, a Miss Bacon and Kegs Pageant, a bacon eating contest, and a 5Keg Run/Walk. Tickets are $7 from noon to 4:00, and $10 after 4:00. Click on www.facebook.com/riverfrontevents for more info.

The Morton Pumpkin Festival goes through the weekend as well with food, entertainment, crafts and rides. Pumpkin Idol finals are at 6 pm on Friday the 12th, there is a pumpkin pancake breakfast starting at 6:30 on Sat. Parade is at 10:30 on Sat! www.mortonpumpkinfestival.org

A family friendly music variety show is going on Saturday night from 7-9 at the Fon du Lac Park District Admin building, 201 Veterans Drive, East Peoria. Admission is $8 per person or $15 per couple.

The All of Nothing Custom Car and Bike Show is being held at Sommer Park (which is next to Sommer Place subdivision-use the entrance off of Koerner Rd rather than through the subdivision). My car knowledge doesn’t extend past knowing where to put the gas in a car, but we went to this last year with the kids and they had a good time. There are food and drink vendors and activities for kids. It’s on Sat from 10-4 with awards at 5:00.

The Eli Young Band will be playing at the Limelight Event Complex next Wed the 17th. More info can be found on their website www.limelighteventplex.com .

One great site that I’ve mentioned here before for ideas on things to do around town is www.explorepeoria.com. I mean, looking at homes with myself or Jennifer I know would top anyone’s list of top things to do around town, but if that isn’t in the cards this weekend, at least you have some other fun options to choose from!

Have a great weekend!

Mark and Jennifer
